After reading the Greatest War Stories Never Told I knew that I wanted to purchase The Greatest Presidential Stories Never Told. As before, this book is very entertaining and interesting. It will change the way that you think about the character of quite a few of our Presidents. It really is a fun book to read!

Some fun trivia about the U.S. Presidents. Did you know Lincoln was challenged to a duel? His weapon of choice - calvary broadswords. A truce was negotiated. Or that Grant is the only president to ever receive a speeding ticket while in office for making his horces pull his carriage at gallop speed? It's all in here. Oddly, a few tidbits are thrown in about other nation's presidents, like Santa Anna. Overall, a fun little book, just don't expect to come out with any deep thoughts about the Presidency or American history on this one.

I bought this book after hearing an interview with the author on NPR. The small hardcover square is very nicely produced - each spread is about a President - several pics and several tidbits of unexpected stories. Amusing, gossipy, and visually attractive.
It reminded me of the books I used to read as a teenager, except that visually they were not as good, soaking up information about everything. Now I prefer books that take one topic and treat it in depth, but this brief return to adolescence was like eating brain candy. I am saving the book for when our nephews come to visit.

Stories are short and very entertaining. Not for the serious study of history, but perfect for light reading by those who enjoy history.

I'm a big trivia buff and this book fits the bill. It is a quick read for anyone looking for something interesting and lite.
